Cubes
Students had two directions. Build a cube 3 x 3 x 3. Color the outside of the cube.
When those two things were done, students identified how many cubes were colored on 3 sides, 2 sides,
1 side, or 0 sides.

Results
We made some mistakes. We discussed how we figured out we made a mistake....and....what we learned from it.
Exploring and Extrapolating
The students were challenged to take what they had learned from the 3 x 3 x 3 activity, and build a 4 x 4 x 4 cube with cube blocks. Using their knowledge of cubes, which cubic units would be colored on how many sides, and basic computation, students calculated how many cubes would be colored on 1 side, 2 sides, 3 sides, and 0 sides.
